We are currently seeking Summer 2024 Therapy Interns who are self-starters and have completed at least one (1) year of college to add to our team. If you are in school for a Medical or Special Education related field (including speech, recreation, special education, pre-med, PT, or OT), this may be the summer job for you! This position will allow you to get great experience working with kids who have complex special needs.
Responsibilities for Therapy Summer Intern: THIS IS A SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITION
- Lifting and transferring residents and assisting direct care staff as needed
- Providing summer programming in classrooms and documenting children’s responses using the PCCA Quality of Life Matrix
- Provide oral motor stimulation as directed by the speech pathologist
- Provide individual sensorimotor activities under the direction of the OT
- Assist with gait trainer activities, abducted standing program, and field trips as assigned
- Provide increased opportunities for mobility by working with children
- Participating in special therapy projects as designated

Qualifications for Therapy Summer Intern:
- Must have completed at least one (1) year of college
- Must be in a Medical, Special Education, or Physical/Occupational Therapy (including speech, recreation, special education, pre-med, PT, or OT) related field
- Must be at least 18 years or older
- Must be able to work at least 4-5 days a week (Monday-Friday)
- Must be able to work on at least 1 weekend day a month
- Must be able to work in a group setting
- Must NOT be employed with PCCA in any other capacity
- Must meet all healthcare requirements including Tuberculosis skin test and Covid Vaccine
- Must be in positive standing with all healthcare agencies, including Employment Clearance Registry and Adult Maltreatment Registry
May require frequent standing/walking, reaching, bending/stooping, lifting/handling, pushing/pulling, occasional carrying of up to 40 lbs. independently, grasping, and fine hand coordination.
