Physical Therapist / Physical Therapist Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION FOR PHYSICAL THERAPIST/ PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT

Pediatric Complex Care of Arkansas offers the opportunity of working as a full-time employee with benefits, or contracted employee, with a flexible schedule.

The ideal candidate will evaluate and treat our residents with orthopedic, neurological, developmental, congenital, and musculoskeletal conditions to determine a physical therapy diagnosis, prognosis, and planned therapeutic intervention.

Responsibilities for Physical Therapist / Physical Therapist Assistant

Provide physical therapy treatment and participate willingly in all duties assigned to ensure the highest standard of care for all children at Pediatric Complex Care of Arkansas

Review social history, psychological, medical, and previous therapy reports

Administer appropriate tests and evaluates to determine an appropriate plan of care

Develop appropriate goals/objectives and treatment plans 

Implement appropriate therapy treatments/interventions

Complete daily, monthly, and annual documentation

Participate in team meetings

Coordinate care with other medical disciples

Evaluate patients for equipment needs and specialized wheelchair seating

Participate with medical team, family, and Medicaid waiver services to plan for equipment needs and parent training 

Communicate with physicians and coordinate care for patients attending orthopedic, neurology, and rehabilitation clinics at ACH

Coordinate and provide supervision if applicable 

Design and monitor Restorative Aide programs if applicable

Qualifications for Physical Therapist/ Physical Therapist Assistant

Excellent written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally 

Ability to maintain legible and accurate medical records

Organizational and time management skills.

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Good understanding of aseptic techniques for infection control.

Education and Experience for Physical Therapist/ Physical Therapist Assistant

Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited Physical Therapy Program at a four-year college or university

Associate degree or higher from an accredited physical Therapy Assistant Program

Preferred pediatric experience

Current Arkansas Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant license

Physical Demands for Physical Therapist/ Physical Therapist Assistant

Must be able to frequently bend, stoop, lift, reach, crouch, kneel, walk, and stand for extended periods of time

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. independently

Frequent pushing and/or pulling

Ability to hear and respond to pages, distinguish smells and temperatures
